The UH-60 Fuel Elbow was identified by the Aviation and Missile Command (AvMC) as a potential application laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) of 316L, with development to be performed under the AMNOW program. In addition to developing the AM process, significant activities were required in post-processing, inspection, and testing to demonstrate the ability to produce hardware that would meet service requirements.
