Johannes Olbort

Johannes Olbort, Project Manager at the VDMA's Industrial Collective Research Association, is responsible for the harmonization activities including OPC UA for Machinery. This is done in the area of OPC UA, which also includes the development of the so-called "Global Production Language" in which more than 600 companies worldwide participate. This makes it an important contact for the international machinery and plant construction industry in matters of OPC UA standardization and intelligent production. Through close cooperation with numerous companies from the mechanical and plant engineering sector, he represents their wishes and requirements in the Industrie 4.0 ecosystem. The VDMA's strong international political networking has enabled it to introduce OPC UA activities into global politics. Before joining the VDMA, Mr. Olbort studied Industrial Engineering, specialising in Mechanical Engineering, and was a research assistant at the Technical University of Darmstadt, specialising in virtual product development and computer science.
