In this keynote presentation, Todd Kackley, Textron VP & CIO describes the transformation of a traditional manufacturing company into a technology-driven company through the lens of a digital transformational leader. Faced with an opportunity to compete for and win the largest modernization program in the history of Army aviation, Bell Textron responded by investing in Engineering and Manufacturing, aligning with Digital Enterprise capabilities, embracing Model Based Engineering and Industry 4.0 smart Factory of the Future concepts. Todd describes the key enablers supporting this digital transformation as well as challenges such as legacy processes, data silos, balancing investment priorities and resistance to change. The vision of a Model Based Enterprise (MBE) is explained, emphasizing digital twins and their benefits not only in engineering, but also from the perspective of manufacturing and throughout the entire product lifecycle.
